Dave is a 1983 graduate of West Chester East High School where he competed for head coach Mike Colley. He was a two-time PIAA medalist, placing 4th at 132 in 1983 before winning the PIAA State title at 138 pounds in 1983. Morgan finished his scholastic career with a 79-18 record including an undefeated 33-0 mark as a senior. In the 1984 Challenge of Champions, Dave defeated three-time PIAA Champion Joe Cesari in the 138-pound match. Morgan was a standout on the wrestling mat at Bloomsburg finishing his career with an overall record of 127-26-6 gives him the fourth best winning percentage (.817) in school history. Morgan was a two-time All-American for the Huskies finishing third in 1987-88 and sixth in 1988-89 at 150 pounds. During each of his four years Morgan increased his win total, going from 28 wins as a freshman to 31 as a sophomore, 33 as a junior and 35 as a senior. A four-time NCAA qualifier, Morgan was also a two-time Eastern Wrestling League and PSAC Champion. He helped the Huskies to the 1988-89 PSAC Championship.
