Tim is a 2007 graduate of Nazareth High School and a 2011 graduate of Kutztown University. Darling competed for PWCA Hall of Fame head coach Dave Crowell and earned four PIAA state medals while compiling a 169-14 record. He finished third at 112 in the 2004 Class AAA state championships before capturing three consecutive state championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2005, Darling won his first state title, defeating Quakertown’s Nate Nauroth in the 130-pound title bout, 5-2. The following year, in 2006, Darling claimed the 145 pound state title after topping Bald Eagle Area sophomore Quentin Wright in the finals, 8-5.  In the 2007 state finals, Darling won the battle of returning state champions against Latrobe’s Ryan Goodman in the 152-pound championship finals, 2-1 overtime. Darling wrestled in the 2007 Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic where he dropped a 5-3 decision to Illinois’ Albert White. Darling attended Penn State University before transferring to Kutztown midway through the 2009-10 season. He finished the season with an 18-3 record, captured the NCAA Super Regional title at 184 pounds and finished 4th at the 2010 NCAA Division II Championships.  In 2010-11, Darling won 11 matches in his junior season with five falls.
